5 Things To Say In Your First YouTube Video

Let's be honest, figuring out that your first YouTube video should be about can feel a little overwhelming. And we're not even talking about what you're going to say in your first video! Maybe you already have some ideas for what to make your first YouTube video about and that's where you're feeling stuck. Knowing what to say. Luckily, this week, I'm sharing 5 Things to Say in Your First YouTube Video! We're digging into what works best and will keep your viewers engaged.

READY TO CREATE STRATEGIC YOUTUBE VIDEOS TO DRIVE MORE LEADS + SALES TO YOUR BUSINESS?

A Strong Hook.

This is the very beginning of your video. The part that will tell your audience whether or not they want to continue watching. Which means you need to make sure you have a strong hook in the first 5 to 10 seconds.

Skip fancy intros and music, those are surefire ways to make a viewer click away. Instead, quickly share what your audience is going to get from the video and why it's important.

You can always check your audience retention after videos have been published to see how well your hooks are performing. If you have a steep drop in retention in the beginning, it might be time to start tweaking.

A Short Intro.

When I say a short intro, that's what I mean. And right now, you may have noticed that I'm not introducing myself at all these days! I'll give you the data on that in a few months! However, this is the time to introduce yourself to your audience in 10 seconds or less. Let them know who you are and what value you have to offer them so they can get to know you.

Give Good Value.

Once you've hooked them and you've introduced yourself, it's time to give them what they came for. The content. You need to make sure that you are providing high value content. This might be a great time for you to consider a bulleted list to keep you on task since you want to make sure that you're giving as much value in one video as you can.

You also want this to be easy for your viewer to follow and a script of sorts can help with that. You can provide this content in the form of steps, tips, advice or even mistake examples.

Give a Quick Win.

High value doesn't mean extra long. In fact, when I started this channel, I provided YouTube tips in 2 minutes. And it worked! The goal is to create a win for your viewer. You want them to walk away thinking "Wow! That was really helpful!"

So stay concise, provide that quick win and move on!

Have a Strategic Outro.

This is one of the biggest mistakes I see on YouTube! Your outro is just as important as the rest of the video because you want to keep your viewer watching videos. Or maybe you want them to sign up for your email list.

Whatever your goal for the video is, you need to have a strong call to action at the end of your video. Avoid signaling that the video is over and instead point them to the next step!

And that's what you should be saying in your first YouTube video.
