Make The PERFECT YouTube Banner in Canva [FOR FREE]!

It’s no secret, creating a channel banner can be incredibly frustrating. Getting the dimensions right can feel tricky on it’s own and ensuring that your banner is packing a punch can feel like an impossible task. Especially with those odd dimensions! This week, I’m going to be showing you how you can create a beautiful YouTube channel banner for free using one of my favorite tools, Canva.

Now before you jump into the tutorial above, let’s talk about two seriously important things because these things are going to help understand what you need for a channel banner.

First things first, you need to have your branding really well defined for yourself. If you already have a business, this may be something you’re already aware of. You have those colors that you use through out your other social channels, those fonts… you’ll want to make sure that your YouTube channel banner reflects that same brand identity to keep everything very cohesive. You want people to go to your channel and KNOW it’s you!

Now your branding isn’t the only thing you’re going to need for your banner. There are going to be a few pieces that you want to include in your banner. Those pieces are

• Your Photo. Yes, I’m seriously. Your channel banner is a billboard to show who your viewer is being educated by. You’re going to want to have yourself there so they can SEE you!

• Your Channel Name. So if you haven’t come up with a name yet, now is the time!

• Your Value Proposition. Essentially, what is your channel all about? What value are they going to get?

• Your Upload Schedule. This allows your viewers to know when they can expect new content from you!
