My Secrets For Creating a Content Calendar that Doesn’t Burn Me Out

A dynamic content strategy is how I scaled my business. No ads. No fancy marketing tactics. I created consistent, intentional content that kept (and still keeps) my social media channels bringing in the money!

But when you’re trying to juggle multiple channels at once, it can be hard to create strategic content that doesn’t feel like it’s taking up all your time and mental energy.

If you want to know my secret for balancing it all…keep reading my friend! I’m going to show you how I not only use YouTube to drive leads in my business but also the other tools I use to support my channel and the content I create there.

Pick one platform to focus on

The ultimate key to creating a content calendar you can handle is to pick just one platform to focus on. You don’t need to tackle them all — especially when your time and resources are limited. Focus on doing the most good with the platform you can invest in.

For me, that’s YouTube. I genuinely feel excited about creating content because I know it's serving my audience — and that it will also bring back the return for the effort I’ve put into it.

Use a program to keep everything organized

You can use something like Google Sheets or Asana (my personal favorite!). Keeping all my ideas in one place and organized enough that my team knows exactly what to do has made a huge difference. You’ll have more time to focus on content and will spend less time running around to get all the important need-to-know.

I also use Asana for things like tracking leads, creating course outlines, collaborating with my clients and my team, and storing any content ideas that may come at random times

Create a newsletter

If you’re worried about being able to handle one more thing, trust me when I say this is something you need and it’s worth making the time for.

Your newsletter will push people to your YouTube content, giving your video the attention it needs to make you money.

You don’t have control over a crazy social media algorithm, but you do have control (at least, more of it) over your email list. You send it and it shows up in the inbox, plain and simple. And if people truly want to hear from you, they will find your newsletter in a sea of emails.

My rule of thumb is to push the newsletter within an hour of my video publishing. I like to keep the momentum going!

If you decide to use Instagram…

Of course, I favor YouTube. And I know I said earlier that you need to keep your focus on one platform. But let’s be real for a second, you probably aren’t going to just stick to one. You will probably end up using something like Instagram to supplement your content strategy, and that’s okay (just as long as you aren’t attempting to give both platforms the same amount of attention. That WILL lead to burnout.)

When I use Instagram to supplement my content plan, I basically just take the key points made in my video and translate them into text format for a post. And I like to do this within the first few hours after going live with the video too. It helps generate extra interest when publishing to my Stories because the video is still new and exciting.

Use templates

Streamlining your content is much easier when you use templates. I personally love Canva for this because once you create a template, you don’t ever have to make it again! You can make tweaks as time goes on, but the baseline of the design is always there.

It’s only $13 a month for the pro version (which gives you access to TONS of design elements), and it’s one of the best investments I’ve made in my business. Whether I’m creating thumbnails for my videos, social media posts, or graphics for launches and promos, it saves me lots of time!

And now the hardest part…picking the right content ideas

I like to plan out my content 90 days in advance (or one quarter at a time). Planning monthly was too hectic and last minute for me, and I get far more work done when I’m doing it this way. However, coming up with the ideas…that’s the hard part.

But when you know the ONE type of video that can do it all (aka drive those leads over and over), making your content calendar is much easier.
