4 Ways You Can Stay Consistent With YouTube Content in 2024

Feel like you’re having a hard time getting results on YouTube? Good news — it may not be your content. Heck yeah, right?

Well, before you let yourself off the hook and blame the algorithm, you need to know that it may actually be your consistency on YouTube that’s the problem.

But we’re not about to dive into a motivational speech about powering through. It’s not all about sucking it up and doing it anyway. Though sometimes that’s necessary, it’s not really a good strategy unless you have other strategies in place to help you do it.

Consistency is key…but so is direction.

That’s why I’m going to show you 4 different ways you can stay consistent with your YouTube content — and see results — in 2024.

Let’s dig in!

But first…why motivation matters for staying consistent

Before I dig into any strategies or best practices, I need to share more about why motivation is important. I know, I just talked about how motivation isn’t everything, but it’s pretty freakin’ important, people! Motivation will serve as the foundation for the rest of the strategies I mention here.

Creating consistent content is hard. I totally get that, and in fact, it’s the reason I decided to take a break from Instagram and only focus on YouTube right now.

Would it be nice if I could just not do anything at all and have leads come into my business? Of course, but if you’re in a place where you want to grow your biz, you have to show up.

So how do you keep going even when you don’t feel like it?

You need to dig deep and figure out WHY you’re doing this. Why did you start your business? And how is creating content going to help you get closer to that goal/vision? You’ve GOT to keep that top of mind.

Now, let’s move on to the practical advice!

Staying Consistent Tip #1: Think about the bigger picture

We aren’t here creating one-off videos. We have to show up and create bingeable content. Not only is it good for boosting you in the YouTube algorithm, but also for providing the most value to your audience.

That’s why I teach my coaching clients to think about the big picture when it comes to YouTube strategy .If you look at the last year’s worth of content on my channel it’s dropped in series of 5 - 6 videos within a theme.  It’s intentionally planned out to get you from video 1 through 6.

This isn’t just a coincidence. This is what YouTube strategy should be. So you are never out of ideas and when you have the time dedicated to YouTube, you can jump right in without needing to come up with video ideas.

Staying Consistent Tip #2: Set realistic expectations

I’ve gotta be honest — one of the biggest reasons people can’t stay consistent on YouTube is because they’re setting unrealistic expectations. They’re putting WAY too much pressure on themselves to produce, not taking into account their actual capacity.

It’s just like going to the gym. If you already have a jam-packed schedule, then trying to go every single day isn’t feasible. When you can’t hit that number you set in your mind, you start to feel discouraged. Do that over and over and it’s easy to give up.

It’s the same with planning your content!

Managing expectations goes beyond capacity

Managing your expectations isn’t just for capacity's sake either. You have to also manage your expectations when it comes to what kind of results you will see.

You aren’t going to post a video on YouTube and then BOOM — tons of views and subscribers overnight. You have to keep at it.

Instead, set benchmarks for your channel that aim to improve your numbers little by little. This will help you to keep improving YOUR benchmarks and not compare yourself to others.

Staying Consistent Tip #3: Batch your content

Listen, I’m not saying you need to sit down and do 10 videos in one sitting… But you do need to be strategic with your time and maximize what you do have, which is where batching comes in!

If you’re not batching each part of the process — scripting, filming, editing, uploading — it’s going to be hard to maximize your time. You’re going to be constantly switching from filming mode, to editing mode, and everywhere in between. Hopping in and out of tasks like that reduces focus, and you have to spend more time getting into the groove of things for each step.

But if you batch it, you cut that time out and get things knocked out much faster! And when you have a streamlined process for creating those YouTube videos? It’ll be MUCH easier to stay consistent and stick with it!

Staying Consistent Tip #4: Stop making it harder than it needs to be

Overthinking and overcomplicating the process of creating YouTube content may be holding you back. You don’t need the best equipment around or the best editing in the world.

Starting a YouTube channel with a $1,000 camera and a $500 lens, with fancy editing to match, is not only unrealistic, it’s also not even necessary.

It’s actually not even what’s working on YouTube right now (yep — the algo is favoring easy-breezy, organic content with low-key editing. Business owners rejoice!).

When you start overthinking, use these steps to help you move on:

  1. Keep your equipment simple: Use something that’s super easy for you to set up so you don’t overthink filming (and dread the setup process).

  2. Don’t overthink your backdrops:  Stop worrying about the car going by the window or kid’s toys on the floor while filming. That’s real life — and it’s what people want to see!

  3. Breathe — it’s not going to be perfect all the time: Every single video you create isn’t going to be your best, and that’s okay. But you won’t get better and see results if you don’t stick with it and keep showing up!

Learn how to build a simple strategy that works for you!

The biggest thing to remember is to keep YouTube simple and doable! Because if it’s not something you can keep up with, you won’t do it. Stay at it, and you will see results

Speaking of simple…I’m actually hosting a workshop that dives deeper into simplifying your YouTube process! You’ll learn about the three-part framework that not only has helped me stay consistent but also get results! (This is a process I teach inside my coaching program, too.)

No matter what your overarching goal with YouTube is — getting more eyes on your videos, getting more people on your email list, or booking more clients — this workshop can help you get there!

You can watch the workshop for FREE here.
