5 Strategies to Fix YouTube Content That Isn’t Converting
You’re putting a lot of hard work into your YouTube videos. It only makes sense that some sales should follow, right?
But what do you do if they’re not? How do you fix YouTube content that’s not converting? Because you’re not just posting for fun — you want that content to turn into leads!
Your content isn’t a hobby; it’s a crucial part of your business strategy. So, if you’re not getting the results you need from YouTube, it’s time to figure out why — and more importantly, how to fix it!
In this video, I’m going to give you five reasons why your content isn’t converting — and what you can do about it!
Strategy #1: Use Clearer CTAs
Clear communication goes a long way! Make sure your calls to action are straightforward so your audience knows exactly what to do next.
If you don’t explicitly tell your viewers what to do, they’re not going to guess. And if they’re unsure, they probably won’t end up doing anything at all. You need to clearly spell out the next step and make it easy for them to take that action.
Instead of using generic CTAs like “Check out my course,” spice it up! Say something like, “Click the link below to download my free guide — it’ll show you exactly how to [solve a specific problem].”
It’s a small tweak that goes a long way.
Not every CTA is right for every video
And while we’re here…avoid using TOO MANY CTAs! Overloading your content with multiple asks like “Download my freebie, like this video, comment below, and subscribe” doesn’t help viewers know what to do. It’s too much!
Focus on ONE call to action and the benefits they’ll get from it.
I also want to mention that not every CTA/offer is right for every video! If you’re using something that doesn’t align with the content of your video, it’s pretty likely that it won’t see a lot of traction.
Instead, make sure whatever it is you highlight MAKES SENSE to the video!
Strategy #2: Focus on Results Instead of Features
Your YouTube content should clearly communicate what your audience will gain by taking action. People want to know what’s in it for them.
If you’re only listing features or describing your product in vague terms, you’re not giving them a reason to care.
Instead of saying, “You’ll get a checklist,” say, “When you follow my Video Game Plan, you’ll create videos that attract more views and lead to consistent sales.” See how much more impactful that is?
They need to know how your offer will solve their problems or improve their lives. Otherwise, what’s the reason for them to purchase from you or sign up to work with you?
Strategy #3: Solve CLEAR Problems
People are constantly looking for solutions to their problems. If your content doesn’t directly address a specific issue, viewers won’t see the value and will quickly move on. (Are you noticing a pattern here?)
Content that’s too general doesn’t keep people engaged or push them to take action — especially if we’re talking about ready-to-buy viewers who want to solve their problems immediately.
Make it as easy as possible for them to access the solution! Just like with clear CTAs, be straightforward and specific about what your content will help them do.
Strategy #4: Introduce Your Offer at the Right Time
When it comes to promoting a product or service in your content, timing is everything. Mentioning your offer too early can seem pushy, but waiting too long might mean losing viewers who’ve already clicked away.
The sweet spot? After you’ve established credibility and provided value. You have to earn that trust. Once viewers have warmed up to you and received valuable content, weave your call to action in naturally.
Strategy #5: Use a CTA that Flows into the Next Piece of Content
I know I said to only use one CTA, but stay with me. The end of your videos is important, too, and if someone was engaged enough to stay to the end, you want to take advantage of that opportunity!
So, include a CTA that naturally leads into your next video, blog post, or resource. This not only increases your content’s retention but also helps build a consistent flow that guides viewers through your YouTube funnel.
And I recommend pushing them to watch another video. That way, you have binge-able content that keeps the algorithm happy!
