How I Batch One Month's Worth Of Videos in 5 Hours

Getting all of your video content done in a day feels like a dream, doesn't it? What if I told you that you can batch one month's worth of content in 5 hours. Not even kidding.

This process is so simple and so effective that it's what I recommend to every single person that comes my way. It's the exact process I use to help me stay consistent on YouTube while still being able to enjoy my three day weekends. Let's dig into it!

The first thing that you want to make sure that you want to do is ensure that you have it on your calendar. Seriously, if you don't plan to get content done, it won't get done. So put a time on your calendar to complete the filming process and STICK TO IT.

This means removing all distractions, ensuring that you don't have anything else going on and focusing strictly on your filming. I do this on a Tuesday or Thursday because those are the days that I know my kiddos won't be home and I'll be able to record more effectively.

However, I do want you to remember that things do happen. And you have to accept that there may be things out of your control when it comes to your scheduled filming time. In fact, when I sat down to film these videos, the neighbors had their landscaper come and mow.

You're not the only one that has to deal with these things so just try to work around it. Take time to review your filming game plan, get in the zone and then when you can pick back up, get to filming!

Speaking of your filming game plan, having a game plan for your film day helps you know what to expect and allows you the freedom to design your day to fit your lifestyle. For me, I decided I wanted to take slower mornings and having that plan in place allows me to have the slower mornings that I want!

Once I'm ready to get started, it's time to get camera ready! This means making yourself presentable for the camera. For me, I do my make up and my hair but this process will look different for everyone. You don't have to be professionally done up and you don't have to have everything perfect. What's important is that you do what makes you feel good and confident!

Once I'm done with make up and hair, it's time to move on to wardrobe! Pick out 3 or 4 different shirts that you'll wear for your filming. You'll want one shirt for each video. Remember, you want to feel good in your video so choose clothes that make you feel good. It doesn't have to be fancy, it just needs to be comfortable and clean!

Since we're talking getting ready, here's a pro tip for make up users. Once you apply your make up, you'll want to wait about an hour to start filming. This time allows your makeup to settle properly and will allow you to address any creasing you may get.

Okay, so you're all done getting ready. Now it's time to set up your filming area!

For me, this looks like getting out my lights, my camera, tripod, microphone and more. Click the video above to see my entire set up and learn what equipment I'm using! This is an area that you don't have to get fancy with. You can use whatever you have. If you're shooting your video with your cell phone, just set that up. Make sure you have good light, that your scene is set and you're ready to go.

Now as much as all of that is important, it's really not the most important thing. After all, I could do all of that and STILL take forever to film. What really helps me in my batching process is that I preplan everything out.

The first thing I'll do is research content ideas. That's right, I'm not just creating content because the idea pops into my head. I'm researching to make sure the content that I create will serve a purpose, be something my audience wants to watch and will meet a goal.

Once I've validated my ideas, then I'll move into creating titles and thumbnails. These are the elements that will entice a viewer to click into your video so it's important to make sure that you've decided on a great title and a thumbnail that will really work together.

The next step is actually scripting out the video. My script is my the game plan for what I'll be doing and saying when I hit record. I'll write down exactly what I want to say to ensure that I don't forget anything and to make sure that I stay on topic. I'll also include notes along the way for any b roll I may need or any text that will need to be edited in.

This makes not only filming a breeze but editing too because my editor will know exactly what needs to be done and where!

Now you're probably wondering how I memorize these scripts. I don't. With 2 kids and mom brain, there's no way I could! And you don't have to either. Instead, I read a few lines, look at the camera and say them and then read a few more and back to the camera... This is much more natural than trying to read directly from a teleprompter or from the script itself!

The last step to my batch time is taking thumbnail photos! This is so so important to do and only takes a few minutes so be sure to incorporate that!

And that's how you can film a months worth of content in 5 hours!
