How I Film YouTube Videos (PLUS All My YouTube Equipment!)
Come with me while I sit down to record 4 YouTube videos. This is an entire month’s worth of content for my channel because I only post one pre-recorded video a week. I do this because I don’t have the time to show up looking like all made up more than once a month and I can't get the kids to be quiet often either.
But before I even sit down to record these videos you need to understand the pre-work that goes into it… because If I don’t do this pre-work I’m NOT going to get 4 videos filmed!
Click here to see the prework!
I wanted to explain this process upfront because there is NO way you are going to batch videos if you don’t do this prework first
And this is the literal process I have my clients inside my YouTube production agency follow as well so they too can batch as many videos as possible.
So once I have the videos prepped, I have to:
Make sure I have some child care.
Do hair and makeup. This is typically when I'll blast music to get some energy!
Pull 4 shirts out of my closet.
Set up all the equipment.
I also lay blankets down to make sure nothing echos.
Make sure my background is “tidy”
Set my laptop up with my script.
And hit record!
Let's Break down some recording tips!
When I’m filming the camera is running the whole time BUT I’m pausing.
I’ve also added in my video game plan good transition places for me to move the camera. (This little movement keeps your audience engaged)
I do have MULTIPLE batteries ready to go so I don’t have to wait for one to charge.
I have a large SD card (128G) so I can get it all on a card
Batteries and camera cards are HUGE!
At the end of each video, I:
Take a thumbnail photo, a couple so I can use other places.
Film an ending for Facebook and Instagram.
And sometimes, if I remember, I will shot 4 -6 IG Stories promoting the video and share once it's published!
Then I will change shirts and do that process all over again for 3 more videos!
Let me show what equipment I have to make this possible and seriously I’ve shot entire videos JUST on my cell phone and had created audience retention!
So tell me- do you feel more confident about filming now? Be sure to watch the video above for the behind the scenes look at my filming day!
