How You Can Create Youtube Videos That Drive You Sales Year-Round

If your YouTube videos aren’t bringing you sales, it’s time to rethink your approach. Every video should be designed to drive revenue long-term. Here’s how you can start using YouTube more strategically to turn your content into a steady sales machine for years to come.

Know Your Audience Inside and Out

The first key to making sales from your videos is understanding your audience deeply. Knowing exactly who you’re speaking to and the problem you’re solving for them allows you to align each video with a solution that naturally leads to your offer. Every piece of content should have a clear audience in mind and a call to action that fits their needs.

When I work with clients in my YouTube Coaching Experience, we start by getting crystal clear on their “ready-to-buy” viewer. Defining this audience and then aligning their channel’s promise with their offer is foundational. This approach ensures that each video serves as a bridge, guiding viewers directly from content to offer.

Make Compelling, Advanced Content that Connects

It’s important that your videos go beyond simple tutorials or beginner-level how-to content. Instead, focus on creating content that speaks to those who are serious and ready to take action on solving their problem—those who are most likely to buy.

To truly connect with these viewers:

  • Demonstrate your expertise and authority

  • Incorporate storytelling to validate your authority and build trust

One of my own videos, “I Quit Instagram -Here’s Why”, has become one of my most engaging pieces, not because it’s a how-to, but because it’s personal and relatable.

It helped me connect with over 1,700 new viewers, 47 of whom became subscribers, simply by sharing a relatable story. This kind of content draws viewers in, making them more likely to stick around and explore other videos on my channel.

Optimize Titles and Thumbnails for Long-Term Clicks

Your title and thumbnail are your video’s first impression. If these don’t grab attention and get clicks, it won’t matter how great the content is. Think carefully about your target audience and experiment with words and visuals that resonate with them.

For example, my video, “Grow Your Channel FASTER with These PROVEN YouTube Strategies” has been highly successful because of how the title and thumbnail were crafted. I made sure not to repeat the title text in the thumbnail, creating visual intrigue and encouraging viewers to click to learn more.

If you’re looking for more in-depth strategies on crafting effective titles and thumbnails, check out my, Video Game Plan, where I walk through my exact processes for knowing what you should say in a YouTUbe video and how to say it. You’ll learn my process for planning every single YouTube video to maximize clicks, watch time and engagement.

Include Clear Calls to Action

To turn viewers into buyers, make your call to action obvious. Your viewers need to know exactly what you want them to do next. A compelling call to action is essential for converting interest into sales.

For example, as I mentioned in my Video Game Plan, having an organized structure can keep your audience engaged and make it easier for them to take the next step, whether that’s signing up, buying, or subscribing.

Track Your Analytics and Continuously Improve

If you’re consistently putting out videos that don’t gain traction, it’s time to dig into your analytics. Tracking metrics like average view duration and click-through rates (CTR) can help you pinpoint what’s working and what isn’t.

In my YouTube Coaching Experience, I regularly provide clients with insights from their own analytics, identifying trends and specific changes to improve metrics like view duration and CTR.
