5 Strategies to Help You Improve Your YouTube Channel in Q3

What’s the best way to fast-track your YouTube channel growth? Well…it depends.

I recently took stock of what content trends I’m seeing in over 50 of my clients’ channels, and the truth is there’s no one right answer. There are actually several! Some of these things I’ve even been saying for YEARS, and some are new trends I’m noticing about YouTube growth

So in this video, we’re going to look at the top 5 trends I’ve picked up on while auditing my coaching clients’ channels, and my own, this year. We’ll dive into what these trends mean, and how you can start using them in your own channel.

We’ve only got 5 months left of the year…but I’m confident that if you implement these strategies to improve your YouTube channel, you will start to see some traction in Q3!

Let’s get to it!

Improve your YouTube channel tip #1: Start live streaming

Ever thought about live streaming on YouTube? I have to be honest — it’s not something I ever gave much thought to, either. There is some nuance to it, and a learning curve, but the more I’ve audited YouTube channels this year, the more it seems to be working.

And channels that are seeing success with live streaming all have this one thing in common — consistency!

Your audience comes to expect your lives — it’s like our favorite TV programs before TEVO came around.

So when you consistently show up with great, well-thought-out content each week, they’ll come to rely on you as a business.

It helps build that know, like, trust factor.

But just know that lives are an addition to your weekly content — you definitely still need to keep up that consistent posting schedule, too!

Improve your YouTube channel tip #2: Build a community

Another thing that seems to work really well? Having a community. So, if you don’t have one on your channel yet, I highly encourage some focus on building one up.

Yes, that means engaging with your audience, encouraging them to comment, and responding to them, too.

The truth is, people want to connect with the person they’re going to potentially purchase from. And connection only ADDS to that know, like, trust factor. People don’t really care about you going viral or having tons of subscribers.

They want someone they connect with who also provides relevant, valuable content

How to build a community on YouTube

Part of community building means taking feedback and “requests” from your audience.

You need to lean into your audience and let them guide your content plan. This doesn’t mean they are telling you what to create, but their feedback and input helps you know what to do next.

For example, when I’m trying to decide what to post, and I’m having a hard time picking topics, I’ll ask my audience for their opinion. In the community tab, I’ll ask them to vote on the ideas they like the most.

This is GREAT for connection because it shows that you are listening to your audience and are ready to give them what they want. Which is a great way to boost your channel, too. It’s a win-win all around!

Improve your YouTube channel tip #3: Utilize partnerships

If you have products, you NEED to take advantage of YouTube and Shopify’s partnership.

This allows you to add product listings when uploading a YouTube video. That way, people can shop seamlessly. And an easier checkout process means more sales for you!

Other platforms have a partnership with YouTube (like Fourth Wall, SpreadShop, and Spring), but I know Shopify is super popular so I wanted to make sure I mentioned it!

You can also use this tool to increase affiliate revenue by linking products/services you’re an affiliate of.

Improve your YouTube channel tip #4: Use stories

People like stories. It’s in our DNA. So, brands that use storytelling have a better chance of connecting with their audience. And when that includes shared values and experiences, it only adds to that sense of authenticity people are searching for!

But what, exactly, does that look like in your content?

A lot of it depends on your business. But I like to incorporate lifestyle content, sharing behind-the-scenes videos and sneak peeks, and even doing things like sharing my process for doing XYZ through the story of how I reached that conclusion (for example, my process for building out a content calendar in Asana!).

There are so many ways to add stories to your content…so just go with what feels natural! Just make sure it’s relevant to your content and your audience!

Improve your YouTube channel tip #5: Be authentic

People want authenticity. And because you’re more than likely the face of your business right now, it is SO important that you show up ready to give them that. Even as you grow, people still want that wholesome connection.

In fact, 87% of viewers agree that YouTube creators give recommendations they can trust.

You don’t have to be perfect, but show up and give your best advice, like meeting up with a friend for coffee. Don’t edit out every single faux pas — let yourself be yourself, and people will come to you.
