Channel Settings

One of the first things you need to do with your YouTube channel is set your channel settings. Yep, this is going to happen before you film, before you plan videos… even before you create video ideas! Your channel settings are going to help you control the back end of your YouTube channel. Some of the things you’ll find in your settings are things like your channel keywords, your country of origin and more!

Equipment

You might feel like you need to rush out to get brand new studio quality equipment for your YouTube channel but the truth is that the best thing to start with is what you have. This can be your smartphone! Most smartphones today are capable of recording amazing video and are so easy to use! Simply prop it up in front of a window and you’re ready to go!

Using a quality microphone is something that really helps boost the quality of your videos. Even if you’re using a smartphone! You can hook up a lav mic and make it sound amazing.

Editing Software

Don’t run away! Editing is absolutely the part that most people feel a little scared of. After all, that means you have to learn a new program and that can be tough, right? Fortunately, editing doesn’t have to be a complicated process!

If you’re an Apple user, you can use iMovie, which comes free with Mac computers. iMovie is perfect for adding that extra oomph. If you’re not using a Mac, Camtasia is an editing program that works for PC and Mac and people love. But truly, there are so many options. The most important thing is to find the one that works for you and for your budget.

Video Ideas

When it comes to video ideas, people tend to fall in one of two camps. Either you have a ton of ideas or you don’t have even one. No worries because coming up with video ideas is going to be easy after this. I like to use a tool called TubeBuddy to help me make this happen.

Here’s the thing- you not only want video ideas but you want video ideas that people are searching for. This means you need to be creating content your audience wants. TubeBuddy helps you find keywords that people are searching for. And while these keywords can be used as tags, we like to think of them like topics.
